Yes, seeing how parents of special needs children manage to make it through a day certainly puts my own kvetching into perspective. And yes, donating to a respite organization is a worthy place to put your money. But I mention this as well--give your friends with such situations the gift of even 10-15 minutes of your time, every day or a few times a week. We have a nephew with two MS little boys. Sometimes the parents just need a few minutes to take a deep breath, or grab a shower or a cup of coffee or yes, even use the bathroom in private for a few minutes. Give money? Great, and please do.
